"Shake, Don't Stir" had its origins in 2002 when Gordon was teaching piano to Chris's daughter. Chris and Gordon discovered a mutual love of jazz and decided to get together and play a couple of tunes. They did — playing for two hours every Sunday and eventually forming a quartet. The name, "Shake, Don't Stir," was chosen to reflect the predilection of Gordon and Chris for playing movie themes and other less-performed jazz and latin repertoire. Many gigs later, the group continues to offer a wide variety of jazz styles that always includes songs from movies.
